Osteopathy

Osteopathic Approach

Life is movement. Osteopathy views the body as an interconnected system in which structure and function interact closely and aims to activate the body's self-healing powers and promote balance through manual techniques.

My aim is to use holistic osteopathy, which includes all three aspects of parietal, visceral and cranio-sacral therapy, to find the primary cause of your complaints and to harmonize the mind, body and soul through treatment.

Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

1 Parietal

Structural therapy, which uses manipulation and myofascial techniques to mobilize joints, release blockages and loosen restrictions in fascia, muscles and ligaments.

2 Cranio-Sacral

This gentle form of therapy is based on the cranio-sacral rhythm (rhythmic movements of the cerebrospinal fluid) and the release of sutural restrictions in order to free the central (cranium, brain) and peripheral (spinal cord and exiting nerves) nervous system from blockages and balance them out.

3 Visceral

Therapy of the internal organs (viscera) with the focus on enabling the mobility of the organs within themselves, in their environment and their interaction with the musculoskeletal system.

How does an osteopathic session look like?

No two treatment is the same, as the body is constantly changing and every person has an individual history and physiology of their own.
At your first appointment, we will discuss your symptoms and medical history in detail. You are welcome to bring any existing findings and images (X-ray, CT, MRI) from previous medical examinations. A practical full-body examination will then be carried out to determine your physical condition on the day and to find out where treatment is required for you. This is followed by treatment using various manual techniques and a final consultation in which we discuss the next steps to ensure the success of your treatment.

Note: If you feel more comfortable not being examined in underwear, you are welcome to wear sport shorts.

Please allow 60 minutes for both the initial appointment and the follow-up appointment.

Pregnancy, Birth preparation and Breastfeeding

Pregnancy and Birth Preparation

During pregnancy, there are numerous physical changes that can cause complaints such as back pain, digestive problems or pelvic pain. As a gentle manual therapy method, osteopathy therefore aims to relieve tension and blockages through gentle manipulation techniques, improve blood circulation, optimize the function of the nervous system and increase general well-being.
In addition, osteopathy can also contribute to targeted birth preparation and minimize birth-related injuries.
However, it is important to note that osteopathy alone cannot induce or accelerate labor. Its main aim is to support the mother's body in the best possible way to facilitate the natural process of pregnancy and childbirth.

Breastfeeding

Typical complaints for which osteopathic treatment is used by reducing tension, supporting regulation and releasing blockages are back pain caused by frequent breastfeeding and sitting in certain positions, pelvic floor problems, carpal tunnel syndrome or wrist complaints, intestinal complaints (e.g. bloating, constipation) caused by hormonal changes and physical stress, headaches, breastfeeding problems and milk congestion.

Babys and Children

Osteopathic treatments can release blockages in babies and toddlers that often have arisen during pregnancy and the birth process. Blockages show up for example, in the form of colic, drinking problems, one-sided head posture and difficulties starting to crawl/walk.

Please bring a toy, a blanket/sheet/pad for your child.

Estimated treatment time with arrival and discussion of about 30 minutes per treatment.

For me, osteopathy is like detective work, where I look for the cause of a symptom. By treating the primary dysfunction, for example by releasing blockages, you help the body to reorganize itself and return to health.

Many health insurance companies reimburse a certain proportion of the costs for osteopathic treatments. The prerequisite is usually a doctor's private prescription.
